Leucosome in stromatic migmatite is in petrographic continuity (microstructure, mineralogy and mode) with granite in the highly discordant, apparently cross cutting dyke. Le Petit Mont, Arzon, Morbihan, France. |
Two distinctive permeability-porosity trends are found in Roane cores from the Mothra Hydrothermal vent field on the Endeavor Segment of the Juan de Fuca Mid-Ocean Ridge. Microstructural observations suggest that the difference in the two permeability-porosity relationships reflects different pore evolution processes: sealing of pores with angular sulfide grains results in a power law with an exponent of ~9, whereas sealing of pores by late stage amorphous silica results in a power law with an exponent of ~3. |
