Day 1
Flight and Arrival
Edd Miracco
The day started off easily since it was spring break and it's easy to wake up when you don't have class. Ate a nice day old remaining half of my subway sandwich and I was off to the Centreville lobby. Everyone gets there; we load up the cars and head off to BWI by 4:30am. We get to BWI, check our bags and then wait until 7:30am to board the plane. We take off at 8:05am and arrive at 10:50am in Phoenix. During the flight I moved the briefcase of the sleeping lady who was sitting next to me by accident. I guess her arm was leaning on it and well she fell forward and I think she hit her head on the seat in front of her. We get off the plane, get our bags and wait an hour for the vans. This wasn't too bad because we had a wheelchair and as it turns out Phoenix is right at the northern reaches of the Sonoran biome. We got our vans and head off for Flagstaff, which is in the Ponderosa Pine Forrest biome, after only heading in the wrong direction for 15 min. You can tell a Ponderosa pine from other pines by its very short needles. We then stopped at some random grocery chain called Albertson's for lunch after a good 2 hour drive. We arrive at the Econo-Lodge about 2 hours later, around 5:00pm, and go to dinner at the Denny's. I decided to take a nice dip in the pool instead of eating at Denny's. They had two video games at the hotel, some knock off Off Road Challenge, you know the one with three steering wheels that you can spin around really fast, and ray storm. Dave was hooked on Ray Storm for the few nights we were there. We end the day with watching the Maryland game and seeing Drew Nicholas make that 3 pointer. Overall it was a very nice day because of the weather and that we didn't have to do anything except relax. Check out pictures from this day at:
