Note: Our Santa Fe hike took us onto the plateau marked by the escarpment in the distance. Atop the plateau was a loop trail where numerous pallid land iguanas were visible. These live only on Santa Fe.

Note: Although in the arid zone, the garua season had given the plateau enough water to favor vegitation in places where it would pool up.

Note: Of all of our stops, Santa Fe had the most "otherworldly" feeling, with its unique fauna and forests of prickly-pear trees.
