Terlingua Micro 1 campsite

Location: Barely northwest of Big Bend National Park, near Study Butte TX
Year: 1994
Merckslides catalogue number: 06-17088
Comments: The classic Chihuahuan biome and a beautiful isloated locality that one dared not approach except in a very robust vehicle. Even so, we were forced to evacuate at 4:00 AM by the approach of a thunderstorm that would have rendered the road impassible. The camp was on the Cretaceous sediments of the Aguja Formation. Doggie Mountain, in the background, is one of many remnants of Tertiary volcanoes that erupted through the Aguja in this region.

Comments: God knows the true name of this mountain. It was another Tertiary volcanic remnant, looming just west of the camp.
