Blooming of the titan arum

Location: National Botanical Garden - Washington, DC
Year: 2003
Merckslides catalogue number: 01-17384
Comments: The blooming of this plant, which bears the largest flowers in the world, was a media event and really put the Botanical Gardens on the tourist radar. The flower was open for two days. On the first day, it was notable for smelling like a rotting carcas. Unfortunately I didn't get to it until day two, on which it had little aroma at all.
