Walking Tour of Capitol Hill
Sunday, September 25, 2011 - 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

We will take the Metro to historic Union Station for a three -hour guided walking tour of the Capitol Hill area including the Capitol and surrounding historic buildings. Walk with us from Union Station, past the Columbus Fountain, up to Capitol Hill, past Frederick Douglass' first home in Washington, the Sewall-Belmont House, where early suffragists rallied for the right of women to vote. The walk will end at historic Eastern Market where lunch will be on your own. Eastern Market is DC's destination for fresh food, community events, and on weekends, local farm fresh produce and handmade arts and crafts.

The guided tour starts at Union Station, a white granite beaux- arts landmark, opened in 1907 and reopened after extensive renovations in 1988. It ends at Eastern Market, Washington DC's oldest continually operated fresh food public market. The walk will be over two miles. Return to the hotel by Metro from Eastern Market.

Cost $25 per person, which includes metro tickets and a professional guide. The minimum registration for the tour to go is 15 people.


Bus Tour of Washington Monuments and Museums
Monday, September 26, 2011 - 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Tour will visit all the major monuments and museums in Washington, DC. Leisurely stops are planned at the Lincoln Memorial, Library of Congress, where we will have a guided tour, and the US Archives, where the Declaration of independence and Constitution are on view. We will end at the Old Post Office, where you will get a spectacular view of Washington, DC monuments and historic buildings from the 315 foot tower. Lunch is on your own at the Old Post Office, which has many restaurants and sandwich shops.

Cost: $75 per person. Minimum 17 registrants. Some walking required.


Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens
Tuesday, September 27, 2011 - 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens, like no other Washington DC cultural attraction, is an intimate three-part experience that is gracious, inspiring, and immersive; in a word – fabulous. Guests at cereal heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post’s former home wander the stylish Georgian mansion, free to marvel at Fabergé eggs, portraits, porcelain, furniture and elegant decor, and thirteen acres of serene gardens overlooking Rock Creek Park. Mrs. Post’s personality is the connective link across Hillwood, from her life in business and politics to her collection of Russian and French Decorative Arts. Gracious and attentive staff to welcome visitors.

Our visit will include a guided tour of the gardens and the mansion-museum. You will also have time to stroll the house and gardens on your own. Lunch will be in the Hillwood Café.

Cost: $75. Includes, transportation, lunch, and guided tour of the mansion. Minimum registrants: 17.
