Research Interest

I am interested in trace-element geochemistry and its applications in metamorphic petrology to study rheological and tectonic processes in subduction zones. Currently, I am investigating two major questions about subduction channel dynamics, using the Catalina Schist, California, as a type example: how does the rheology of the subduction channel change during metamorphism, and why do Catalina Schist rocks preserve higher temperatures than expected for a subduction zone. My methods include Zr-in-rutile and/or titanite thermometry, U-(Th)-Pb geochronology of rutile and/or titanite, and geoba-"raman"-try.
