After taking a day off from sample collecting to relax in Avalon, we
set out today to finish collecting blocks and rinds from the
Lawsonite-blueschist blocks. Of course we were successful in our
quest. Then we popped over to Shark Cove to collect some more
cobbles for Natalie's senior thesis project. Again, great success!
In other news, I think it's important to reflect on
some other not-so-geology-related things we all learned today. First,
the fancy yellow geologic notebooks really do "write in the rain". And
second, at the end of the rainbow is not a pot of gold, but some
glorious conglomerate cobbles (we saw with our own eyes!).
Tomorrow we hunt for more garnet amphibolite blocks and rinds....stay
tuned.
