We spent our sampling time today in the lawsonite blueschist facies.
First we went to collect some blocks, rinds and melange matrix for
Julia's study. The day started off rainy and cloudy and we all had a
chance to try out our rain gear. We even saw a rainbow (see the
background image for this page)! It didn't rain for long though, and
the sun made an appearance as we finished up with that batch of
sampling.
The next thing we did was go to Shark Cove to pick up some more
metaconglomerate cobbles for Natalie's study. Amazingly, we found a
bunch more and were able to collect some good samples. With all this
work, we finished early and decided to come back and pack up some of
the rock samples we have collected into boxes.
