Opportunities for Undergraduates

Opportunities exist for undergraduate research in the chemistry and physics of minerals. The following topics are at the top of my list:

       Melting at high pressures

Densities and crystal structures of minerals at high pressure and temperature

Iron meteorites - chemical and textural evolution

Interested UMd students can contact me by email, or stop by the Geology building, room 3113.

Similarly exciting undergraduate research experiences can also be found in other areas of geophysics at Maryland. Check those out too!

Not a Geology major? Not a problem! People with a wide range of scientific/engineering backgrounds find satisfaction working in the Earth sciences, and it is common for non-Geology students to pursue research projects in our department. Be sure also to take a look at our minor programs, including those in Earth material properties and Geophysics.
