Examples of Student Projects in the LMDR



Rockville Quarry is composed predominantly of serpentinite (hydrothermally altered peridotite) and rodingite (metamorphosed gabbro). Holm is collecting a sample of the rodingite, a Cr-rich rock to be used in laboratory experiments.

Holm performed leaching experiments to determine how the transition metals Mn, Co, Ni, Zn and Cr are extracted from ultramafic rocks.
