My research investigates the temperature-fluid-mechanical coupling of deformation in carbonate rock. I am seeking to quantify the relationship that these properties have on rock deformation. Using a triaxial stress apparatus, I will compare the results of previous rock deformation experiments studying H2O-rock interaction during deformation with CO2-rock interaction during deformation.
This research has numerous applications, including in reservoir characterization and petroleum engineering (relating to fluid injection), as well as for CO2 sequestration in limestone reservoirs.
